City Spotlight - Earslcourt Park
Every Toronto neighbourhood has it’s spot. The place where the locals gather, relax on days off, bring their families, their dogs, set up bbqs, and in general, just have a good time outside (even more now with the park drinking permitted haha). If your in West Toronto and in the Corso Italia, Earlscourt Park is that spot.
What makes Earlscourt Park so special and one of my favourite places in Toronto is that it really captures what this vibrant neighbourhood is all about. Corso Italia is historically an Italian and Portuguese neighbourhood but over the years it has become much more diverse with young families relocating and a strong South and Central American latin influx. This melting pot of different cultures is a paradigm of what makes Toronto so great and to see it on a sunny Saturday afternoon is a truly beautiful thing. I personally love to take my dog (and head of client relations) Cali whenever I get the chance. She loves to wrestle other pups in the off leash area and when she’s all tuckered out, we usually hang out on the bleachers and either watch a local youth soccer game, or just chill and watch what everyone else is doing. And with Earlscourt, you will never get bored people watching because there is always something happening!
Whether it’s fitness junkies working out in the outdoor gym, Cirque de Soleil proteges practicing slack lining between trees, people tanning on the grass after a swim in the outdoor pool (they have an indoor one too!), or families having their kids 1st birthday party by the playground and splash pad the park is a beacon for the community, so much so that the annual Brazil Fest has been held here for the past 5 years. There is so much to see and do and that’s not even including the Winter!
If your ever in the neighbourhood make sure to grab a coffee, go for a walk and check out Earlscourt Park. It’s a great park and gives you a real sense of the what the community is all about and the people that make it so great!
